Healthy food is all over New York City. Just open your eyes to what's good for you and your body will be in love with all of your bright decisions.
THE BEE'S KNEES
Navigating New York City may be difficult but finding a good restaurant is definitely not. Whether you're in the mood for something quick or drawn out, you will be able to find exactly what you're looking for.
Hu Kitchen has redefined the way people eat with their "back to Human" mentality. By eliminating grains, dairy and processed foods from their menu, they recreate popular dishes using only fresh ingredients. The best part? They are open breakfast, lunch and dinner and you can eat in or take away.
Grandmaster Veg (Grain/Dairy-free lasagna) ::: eggplant, carrot, green cabbage, cashew, house-made marinara, garlic, chili flake
Assorted Market Vegetables ::: organic escarole, organic swiss chard, carrot, garlic
Roasted Broccoli ::: turmeric, cumin, onion powder, garlic
Next up, we have Le Pain Quotidien, which I refer to as "Le Pain" because I have no idea how to pronounce the third word. I first discovered this place in London and then soon found out it was in D.C., New York and many other cities for that matter. Happy happy Bee. Similar to Hu, Le Pain uses organic and fresh ingredients. For lunch, I went with my usual.
Avocado Toast ::: citrus cumin salt, organic chia seeds & extra virgin olive oil
Now for dinner. Cornelia Street Cafe is perfect for dinner because you can follow it with a live music performance or a gander at precious art. If the weather cooperates, I advise you to sit outside. Cornelia Street is a bit of an escape from the city and will allow you to have a pleasant dinner without the sound of beeping taxis.
Flat Crust Pizza ::: w/ Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Fresh Basil, Roasted Garlic, Black Olives & a Mesclun Garnish
Strawberry, Walnut & Arugula Salad ::: w/ Sheep’s Milk Feta & a Mango Vinaigrette
Black Sesame Crusted Salmon ::: Atlantic Salmon w/ Sake Jasmine Rice, Warm Asian Vegetables & a Ginger Wasabi Sauce
Grilled Organic Chicken ::: Free Range Chicken Breast w/Vegetable Couscous Grilled Asparagus & a Pommery Mustard Beurre Blanc
Blue Fish ::: w/ mixed vegetables
Sweet tooth like me? As long as your patient, head to GROM. The line is always out the door but so worth the wait. Not to mention you can't feel bad about it because they don't use artificial coloring, preservatives or emulsifiers. Only the most fresh for the best. My favorite so far has been the coffee chocolate chip & the mint chip. I like those chips.
Until my next food outing,
